Rockdale County is geographically the second-smallest county in Georgia and has a population of more than 85,000 that is served by one hospital, Rockdale Medical Center. According to 2010 U.S. Census, more than 13.2 percent of Rockdale County residents live below the poverty level.
During fiscal year 2008, the emergency department at RMC served 8,328 uninsured patients. The total number of patients classified as doctor’s office visits to RMC in 2008 was 13,769. Of those, 117 were treated for dental issues.
